Our Family Dentistry Team
A Team of Caring Dental Professionals
Serving Lawrence, Topeka, Kansas City and Patients Worldwide!
In every aspect of our family dentistry practice, we never settle for average because we believe in the long-term value of exceptional quality provided in an atmosphere of trusting relationships. Foremost, in our dentist office, is the exceptional quality of the people that choose to work here. Every member of our team is dedicated to providing you with an outstanding, unparalleled dental care experience, but mostly, they all are clear about their most important role — to be your advocate in making decisions about your oral health. As a dentist, I couldn’t be more proud to work with all these quality people. When you read their words you’ll know why.
Client Care Coordinator and Financial Manager
Vickie has been an integral part of our practice for 31 years. As most of you know, Vickie is the wife of Dr. Otten and fills the role of client care coordinator and accounts payable manager.
Vickie met Dr. Otten while she was working at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City as a Packaging Buyer. She is originally from Kansas City, Missouri where she attended Southeast High School and Rockhurst College. After moving to Lawrence, she worked at Douglas County Bank and Landplan Engineering. In 1986 Dr. Otten asked her to join him as his partner in the dental practice, helping him in the business office. She has gained much knowledge about the world of dentistry and enjoys her ability to help clients find a path of health that is right for them. Her relationships with the clients over the years have been extremely rewarding and she always enjoys her visits with them and having them a part of our practice family.
Vickie and Dr. Otten have one son, Craig, who lives in San Diego with his wife Christine. Their pride and joy, granddaughter Lexi, makes San Diego their number one travel destination. Vickie’s other interests are her community involvement, dancing, sports and of course, their sweet dog Lola.
Debbie grew up in Lawrence and attended the University of Kansas before entering Dental Hygiene School. She married her Husband Derek in 1987 and they have two children, Jake and Piper. As her children grew up Debbie was actively involved with their schools and activities. She has served in a variety of rolls from Boy Scout Leader to Board of Directors. Both her children are active in sports and music which keeps her schedule busy. When she has free time she enjoys being outside, gardening, snow skiing, scuba diving, hiking, biking or going to the dog park. “I have such a short time with my kids before they grow up I want to enjoy every moment with them”. Debbie believes in the importance of volunteering and the development of family.
Before starting her family, Debbie was proud to have served in the military with the 190th Kansas Air National Guard. She spent 12 years with the Guard and had many opportunities to travel with them. Debbie remains active with the unit through her husband, Col. Derek Rogers and Son Jake who joined in January 2013. She was honored to have been awarded “Military Spouse of the Year 2013” by the State of Kansas.
Debbie has been practicing Dental Hygiene since 1993. She has worked with long term restorative and esthetic dentistry helping people discover their options for optimal health. She has attended hundreds of hours in Continuation Education Courses in pursuit of being the best at Dental Hygiene.
“One of the things I enjoy is working with the patients who seek Dr. Otten’s care. Exceptional Quality Dentistry is an art and science. It requires tremendous dedication and an uncompromising commitment to excellence.”
“I am excited for the opportunity to work with a team of professionals that make it possible to offer the patient the results they desire and individual choice of how to achieve them. Each person’s journey to health is unique. I enjoy getting to know my patients, listening to their concerns, hearing what their expectations are and helping them to discover the possibilities to reach the goals they have for their dental and overall health.”
