Dental Implants in Lawrence
A Permanent Replacement for Missing Teeth
Smile, Laugh and Eat Again with Absolute Confidence
If you are missing teeth and have experienced permanent dental implants, we think you will agree that they are one of the best dental technologies ever developed. Dental implants can get you back to enjoying life in ways that dentures and bridges never could, and implant dentistry can replace a single tooth or multiple teeth. No one will ever know they’re missing!
The newest implant technology lets Dr. Otten restore oral health and function with implanted replacements that are amazingly similar to healthy, natural teeth. Denture patients have 4-5 times the functional capacity with teeth implants that they had with dentures alone, and single teeth implants allow for maximum function and cleanability.
What You Should Know Before Choosing Dental Implants
Our patients rave about their newfound freedom with dental implants. But for the implants to last and truly be comfortable, they need to be uniquely and precisely balanced. We carefully incorporate our unique principles of bioengineering and biomechanics in each tooth implant placement.
When working on areas that are fully visible in a smile, other factors come into play. We not only make sure that the function of these teeth implants is correct but that the tissue surrounding the teeth also looks, feels and functions as natural tissue should. The implants should blend perfectly with the rest of the smile. No one will know they are not your natural teeth!
As is the case with most dentistry, the use of dental implants requires careful analysis, planning and a coordinated effort between the restorative dentist and other specialists who may be involved.
As with all our other dental care, this 25-step comprehensive evaluation process is the first and most important stage in the discovery process to see if dental implants are right for you.
3-Dimensional CT Scans
To achieve the most precise and predictable dental implant results, we use 3-dimensional Computed Tomography (CT or CAT) scans. Unlike traditional x-rays or other imaging options, CT scans give us a 3-dimensional view of the potential tooth implant sites from all angles, providing superb detail of bone, with a minimal dose of radiation.
Using this CT technology, we are now able to build an entire physical model of the bones of the jaw on which we can actually perform your procedure before we ever make an incision. Pre-planning on a model makes your dental implant procedure less invasive, more accurate and much faster. In fact, in some circumstances, we are able to place implants and immediately attach an entire set of teeth to them – all in a matter of hours! While this is not the case for everyone, you can always expect honest, individualized care from us, not the “bait and switch” marketing that is too often part of dentistry.
Our unique knowledge of how the masticatory system works allows us to provide a higher level state-of-the-art implant care in our personalized environment for the Lawrence, Kansas area.
