#5. Stop smoking and using smokeless tobacco.
Smoking and using smokeless tobacco products can lead to discoloration and many other dental and health concerns. When compared to nonsmokers, smokers are four times more likely to develop gum disease. While smokeless tobacco may seem like a safer alternative to smoking, it carries plenty of risk, including an increased risk of oral cancer. Cigarette smoking is linked to 80% to 90% of all lung cancers. More than a cosmetic issue, tobacco is a very big health issue, so we encourage cessation of tobacco use.
#6. Limit your intake of coffee, tea and red wine.
All of these beverages can stain your teeth. We understand that it is impossible to avoid such delicious drinks, so we recommend rinse after you’re done and if possible brushing your teeth. Also sipping on coffee or tea all day can increase staining, so limit your intake if you can.
#7. Drink lots of water.
Water is, hands down, the best thing you can drink for the health of your smile and your whole body. Rather than drinking something with sugar to stay hydrated, water is best option as it will not cause staining or decay.
