If you want to fill in the gaps in your smile in the most natural, long-lasting way possible, then there’s no better option than dental implants. That’s why, when you read our Lawrence dentist’s last blog, you’ll find a couple of helpful recovery tips. Keep reading for more tips to help you get through the recovery process:
#3. Take it easy for the first few days.
Your body is going to need to be firing on all cylinders in order to heal itself properly, which means that you are going to need to get plenty of rest, especially for the first few days. You should also avoid engaging in any strenuous activities for the first week after your surgery. This will help to minimize any complications while you are healing.
#4. Don’t smoke or chew tobacco while you are healing.
Tobacco will actually hinder your body’s ability to heal, and since it also increases your chance of getting infection, it is especially troublesome when you are healing from dental implants. Never smoke or chew tobacco during the recovery process. It is best to stop tobacco use when you have dental implants as this can compromise the long term health of the dental implant.
#5. Use a cold compress.
Swelling and bruising can occur within the first few days after your surgery. A cold compress can help to manage the swelling and bruising, and it could even help to alleviate some of your pain.
